About This Book
Eddie knew there was something out of place. It was a double murder but rigged to look like a murder-suicide, and it was high-profile enough for the Major Crime Unit (MCU) to recruit him. But that’s when Eddie’s problems really began.
Slade Crosby’s vile gang, murder, rape, and rob their way around the city. The MCU have been trying to bring down the whole family for years, but Slade always wriggled free – growing stronger, further out of reach.
When Eddie finds a victim dead, he takes things to a dangerous new level, and discovers why Slade is always one step ahead. Someone is prepared to sell-out undercover officers, prepared to kill Eddie Collins too, just to stay away from their own past.
About This Book
It looked like a burn-out with a dead body in the driver’s seat. But CSI Eddie Collins finds this apparent suicide isn’t that at all. The deeper he digs, the more twisted it becomes.
Eddie’s attention is focused on the victim’s husband, a curious man who seemingly has nothing to gain from his wife’s death. Only when he teams up with DI Benson do they make headway, determining the motive for the killing is buried in the past.
But there’s more to it than anyone could have suspected, another layer – a mysterious stranger, a kidnapping, and a murder with its roots in the 1970s – details of which are extremely sensitive, but ignored by Eddie as he relentlessly pursues the killer in a race towards his final victim.

Andrew Barrett began his storytelling journey in 1985 with a novel called 'Lord and Master' - which he now describes as 'utter rubbish'! But his passion for the written word had been unleashed and he persisted with the old Imperial 66 typewriter his father bought for him to replace the pen and paper he'd been using.
Ten years and a new computer on and a dramatic change in his life had an equally powerful impact on his writing - Andrew was offered a job by West Yorkshire Police and became a Scenes of Crimes Officer (SOCO). Now he had his theme - art followed life and he began to write crime novels. His first series featured SOCO Roger Conniston and there are three books to enjoy.
But after 10 years in the job and having developed himself a sense of cynicism, he decided he needed a new, more aggressive character. Andrew says of Eddie Collins,
"Eddie Collins was me, except stronger, more a caricature who expressed his cynicism and his anger much more fiercely than I ever dare."
Andrew's stories have the realism that only an experienced and serving SOCO could deliver - and Eddie is as bolshy, bold, brash and ultimately big-hearted as they get.
